About Afaqlens
Afaqlens (from the Urdu word afaq, meaning horizons) is an independent publication that explains geopolitics and world affairs in clear, well-sourced English.
What we do
We cover the Middle East, South Asia, the global economy, defense and international politics. Our goal is to give readers context, not just headlines: why events happen, who is involved and what could come next.
Our approach
- Original analysis written by named authors
- Claims backed by linked, reliable sources
- Corrections published openly when we get something wrong
Who runs Afaqlens
Afaqlens is run by Hamid Jawad, a computer science student from Pakistan. I started this site because I follow geopolitics and world affairs closely, and I felt many stories explain what happened but not why it matters, especially for Pakistan and South Asia.
On Afaqlens I write explainers and analysis on the Middle East, South Asia, the global economy and defense. I use public sources, link them in every article, and add my own view where I have one.
I am still learning and I will make mistakes. If you find an error or want to suggest a topic, please write to me from the contact page. I publish corrections openly.
